Description
A Crow Warrior was sent on a mission to kill enemies and avenge wrong done against Crow People and in turn brought peace between two warring tribes. This blanket was made by his wives or possibly his tribe in honor of his great accomplishment. The special honor is evidenced by the abundance of white beads which were considered special and typically used sparingly. The rear facing yellow beads signify the sun at his back hence, a westward journey.The blue beads represent peace with the medicine wheel providing guidance and safety on his journey. This Crow Warrior Blanket artifact is exceptional for many reasons; it’s masterful beadwork, it”s condition, and the fact that the reins are intact. It is truly a rare highly collectible work of art.
