Hopi Early Action Period Circa 1930s coiled basketry plaque.The plaque was given to a new born by an uncle or other male relative. The Shalako spirit brings good fortune , protection, fertility and wisdom to the new tribe member. This piece is in particularly excellent condition owing no doubt to its sacred significance. 16″ diameter
