Native American Jewelry, Artifacts Holiday Auction
Lot 99:
This beautiful example of three rod coiling is 1 3/4 H and 16″ diameter. Of all the baskets in the Southwest region the early three rod coiled Apache baskets are the most collectible. The plant materials they used are willow, devil’s claw and yucca root which is used sparingly by the Apache tribes. Made on a three rod foundation makes the baskets tight, stiff and sturdy with no bend and yield rounded well-defined coils that stand out .
